Description
Summary:Documents the life and aspirations of nine-year-old Punam Tamang, who lives in Bhaktapur, Nepal with her father and two younger siblings. Because her father works long hours to afford his children's school fees, Punam must assume responsibility for household duties and the care of her younger brother and sister. Her friends whose families cannot afford school fees work in a stone quarry or brick factory to help their families survive. For Punam, education represents the only hope of improving her family's situation, and she dreams of becoming a teacher and helping other children in situations like hers.
