This "complete quartets" project was never completed (see Notes); it lacks Opp. 3, 9, 54, 55, 64, 71, 74. Two mvts. from Op. 64 no 1, the last, unfinshed recording they made, are included here, previously unissued.
"The work that used to be known as Op.1/5 was actually an arrangment of a symphony ... [but was replaced in 1765] with a genuine five movement quartet ... known as "Op. 0" ... when it came to Op. 2 the artists decided to include nos. 3 and 5, which were [originally published as] sextets with two horns"--Notes. In later editions the horns were omitted.
