Description
Summary: | Jacques Cousteau attempts to balance his family life his hunger for adventure among the earth's oceans, and his desire to bring the magic of undersea life into homes worldwide.
''Summer 1946. The Cousteau family, Jacques, his wife Simone and their two children, Philippe and Jean-Michel, live in their beautiful house on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. During the day, they dive, at night, they observe the stars. It's heaven on earth. But Jacques is never happy. He thirsts for adventure in the underwater world and believes in the virtues of progress. With his invention, the aqualung, his recently acquired ship, Calypso, and a crew of free-spirited adventurers led by his wife, Simone, Jacques is ready to cross the world's oceans. Ten years later, returning from the boarding school, Philippe finds his father profoundly transformed into an international celebrity. Jacques does not see it yet, but Philippe already understands that progress and pollution have begun to devastate the underwater world. The trip of father and son to Antarctica could well be the biggest adventure to date."--Publisher description.
