Many of the contributions give results from the "Luftfahrt- forschungsprogram der Bundesregierung (German Aeronautical Research Program)". Some of the papers report on work sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG, who were also present at the symposium. This volume gives a broad overview of the ongoing work in this field in Germany.
