In this program expert angler Shannon Long, co-owner of the Hook Fly Fishing Shop, begins by showing viewers the easiest way to get started, spin casting with a rod and spin cast reel, which allows any fishing enthusiast to use lures instead of having to use bait. Then we travel to Clear Creek, outside Golden, where Shannon, sporting his fly-fishing reel, shares his expertise on how to catch fish; then he demonstrates the finer points to fly-fishing; also he carefully explains what to look for when buying fly-fishing equipment and lures. Next, we move to the Arkansas River, where Greg Felt, guide and co-owner of ArkAnglers Fishing Ship, describes the Caddisfly Hatch, a natural phenomenon that occurs every spring and lures fly-fishing enthusiasts here annually. Lastly, Shannon returns to demonstrate three types of fly-casting techniques: flip cast; overhead cast; haul cast. Also he offers helpful advice about guides, clothing and safety.
