| Summary: | The year 2000 was not only the start of a new millennium, but was ananniversary of an event that may have escaped the attention of much of theworld's population. The anniversary that I am thinking of here is the centenaryof the book entitled Die Traumdeutung, known in English as TheInterpretation of Dreams (Freud, 1988). Written by Sigmund Freud andactually published in November 1899, but postdated by the publisher to 1900,this book was to have a profound effect upon the social sciences. CornellUniversity celebrated the anniversary, publishing a ''coffee table'' glossyscholarly tome entitled D.
