Coverage of treatment includes: 1) overview of the model -- 2) establishment of treatment goals -- 3) discussion of assessment procedures -- 4) specific clinical interventions. In addition, a comparison grid offers a summation and comparison of the eight treatment models for use in developing and enhancing patient-tailored treatment approaches."
505 0 |a Editor's Note (p.xix) : " ... Our goal in this series is not examine who is better than whom, or what model works better than other models, but rather to examine and to compare, as clearly as we can, the similarities and differences between different psychotherapeutic approaches. To do this most efficiently, we have used a standard patient. All contributors were asked to respond to the sample case prepared by the volume editors. In this way the reader can compare the thinking, conceptualization, interventions, and questions that would be asked by the contributing authors. We invited authors who are exemplars of a particular school, understanding that other theapeists of the same school might see or do things differently. By aligning apparently diverse therapies side by side, we can look at what models are specific conceptual frameworks, philosophical biases, strategic foci, or technical interventions, as well as help us make clearer distinctions among therapeutic models."
