Итог:A look at how one primary school in south London has adapted and refined its system of assertive discipline according to the particular demands of individual classes. The school serves a challenging inner city community, yet remains an oasis of calm. This is mainly due to the work of headteacher Eileen Ross and her staff, who have developed a behaviour management system that benefits the entire school. Pupils clearly understand the rewards and sanctions that will result from their behaviour, whether it be Smiley faces, which can lead to a certificate or Sad faces, which can lead to a visit to the headteacher. The emphasis is upon rewarding good behaviour and even the most challenging children are given every opportunity to receive them. Assertive discipline seems to work. In its most recent OFSTED report, the excellent behaviour of pupils was singled out as one of the main strengths of the school.
