Summary: | This charming film takes us into the world of students with special needs as they prepare for their school's debutante ball. Most highschoolers take their prom for granted but these young people have the challenge of overcoming disability in order to make a glamorous presentation that night. The pupils at the Ashwood School are all mildly intellectually disabled, although their abilities vary. These children are on the threshold of adulthood physically. They are starting to be interested in the opposite sex, are craving more independence and looking forward to earning a living, making a home, even starting a family. First loves, fist fights and falls on the dance floor are intercut with interviews with parents, the school principal, and intimate moments in their day-to-day lives at home. As the day approaches we share their trepidation that everything be perfect. It is a significant night for both them and their parents, who will be watching with pride. As they mark the end of their schooling with this grand finale, the question is raised: What will be possible for them?
