Description
Summary:An investigation into the watery world of the peat bog corpses. Under dark peaty waters lie buried the secrets of history. Tales of sacrifice, murder, religion and ancient lives. In Bog Bodies we travel around this world to bring the most amazing examples of preserved humanity back to life, through their corpses and the stories that they tell. Over the last few hundred years, the remains of ancient humans have been discovered during peat cutting operations across Europe. Men, women and children have all been released from their death sites. But also in that detail is the gruesome evidence pointing to common signs of violence that makes these finds unusual. As we discover through our research that most of these deaths were not accidental, we ask why most of these people met such gruesome ends and what evidence there is to point towards such possible answers as ritual, sacrifice, punishment for deformity and execution for crimes.
