What do Serge Gainsbourg, Céline Dion and Star Wars have in common with Anton Dvorak or Rachmaninov? By reminding us of the classical roots of a number of popular hits, the Presto team aims to catch the spectator's ear and awaken their curiosity, so they can immerse themselves in a field of art which no longer receives the media attention it deserves. The Les Siècles ensemble starts with the famous 5th Symphony by Beethoven, then moves on to The Planets by Gustav Holt, which is less well-known in the classical repertoire but has featured on the soundtrack of many action films such as Gladiator or The Lord of the Rings. Extracts of Fauré's Pavane and Ravel's Bolero complete this overview of the field. Footage from the films themselves aim at bringing the music and musicians closer to the viewer. The camera moves around the heart of the orchestra; the musicians are placed in a circle around the conductor, who is caught dancing at times; and the black and white uniform of the concert halls makes way for everyday clothes. | ||
