Description
Summary:Almost two hours of a recital of strong lyricism and intense dramatic feelings: Stephen Kovacevich at his best, at the Verbier Festival. The great Amercian pianist gives formidable renditions of the Bach Fourth Partita and the Beethoven 33 Variations on a Waltz by Diabelli. Thoses pieces have been recorded on an album and released the same year on the Onyx label. The depth of the interpretation of these works, greatly absorbed by their performer's spirit, forces anybody to admire Stephen Kovacevich as one of the best pianists of our time. And if the skeptical people need one more proof, the Schumann Kinderszenen should give it to them: they are here performed with the naive happiness and nostalgy implied by the score, and sound like true reminiscences of the youthful ages.
