|a Wanda Damberg was a Dutch civilian living in Manila when the Japanese captured the Philippines. She was interned at Santo Thomas University for two years during which time she, with the aid of a Jesuit priest, smuggled medicine into the camp. In November 1944 she was transferred to the Los Banos prison camp where she was liberated in February 1945 by the 11th Airborne Division. After the war, Damberg was flown to Tokyo to testify against the commandant of the Santo Thomas prison camp.
