Summary:Consuelo Hall McHugh was born in Manila, Luzon, Philippines in 1937. When the Japanese captured and occupied Manila, her father was immediately arrested and interned in Santo Tomas. She remained with her mother's family in Manila until they were arrested and executed by the Japanese in January 1945. McHugh and her brother then joined their father and older brothers in Santo Tomas.
