Summary:Joel Ory served in the Army as a M4 Sherman tank commander in Company A, 48th Tank Battalion, 14th Armored Division and took part in combat operations in Germany. At age 21, he was the youngest tank commander in his division. In the spring of 1945, Ory's unit helped liberate a satellite camp of Dachau. After the war, Ory returned to the United States and was separated from service with the rank of captain.
