Scrapbook of correspondence from Major Eberhard Deutsch, North Africa and England, to his wife, Rhea Deutsch, New Orleans, in addition to miscellaneous items such as newspaper clippings, pressed flowers and program booklets for theater performances in England. By 9 March 1944 Deutsch departed North Africa for England; his time there, in preparation for D-Day (though he cannot directly discuss this), with many descriptions of English people, places (including bomb-damaged Coventry) and weather; upon arrival in England, Deutsch became the Chief Legal Officer of the First United States Army, acting as advisor to the Commanding General on legal matters, chiefly civilian and international law; Deutsch describe his daily activities, with some mention of his work in court-martial trials.
