|a It is estimated that about 10%-55% of females aged 15-64 years have stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and the prevalence increases with age. Retropubic approach of Sling placement or Tension-free vaginal sling procedures or transvaginal tape procedure (TVT) is a surgical option for them with proven long term success rates, even if presenting with severe symptoms showing a component of Intrinsic sphincter deficiency. Also this procedure is a minimally invasive that involves the placement of a strip of polypropylene mesh (tape) around the pubic bones underneath the urethra. The average operative time for TVT ranges from 10 to 20 minutes with the patient under local anesthesia plus intravenous sedation, regional, or general anesthesia. It is a daycare surgery and patient can be discharged after successful trial of void.
