Jackson Pollock started by painting Jungian archetypes in what are called his psychoanalytic drawings. He moved on to Picassoesque figurative work, as in "Guardians of the Secret" and "Moon Woman Cuts the Circle." Then, one average day, he threw a canvas on the floor.
