520 |a After four years at war, the Musketeers return to a Paris seething with violence and poverty. A seemingly indifferent King has entrusted his affairs to corrupt new Governor of Paris, Philippe Feron. When he joins forces with amoral gangster and financier Lucien Grimaud, their combined hunger for legitimate power makes them a deadly threat to the people of Paris - and the Musketeers' most dangerous enemy yet. Ordered to the heart of this urban powder keg, the Musketeers are charged with preventing catastrophe. Still, they have their own battles to fight. Under orders, the Musketeers defend Louis' traitorous brother Gaston after he slaughters a band of veteran soldiers in a Paris tavern. The heartbroken owner, Christophe, demands justice - but the preoccupied King welcomes his formerly exiled brother home with open arms. As tensions ignite and secrets spill, Treville crosses a dangerous line and the Musketeers are forced to choose between their royal duty and fellow soldiers. Meanwhile, Feron and Grimaud spy a kindred spirit in Gaston.
