| Summary: | Richard Spaven performs here on the stage of the Moods Club, Switzerland, in 2018. He is joined by his trio composed of Stuart McCallum (guitarist for The Cinematic Orchestra), Dan Gulino (Jamie Woon's bassist) and special guest Cleveland Watkiss. Watkiss has been around the block for a long time, participating to the Jungle explosion in 90s in UK after having played alongside Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, The Who or The Jazz Warriors. Richard Spaven is a criminally under-recognised drummer who was once accompanist to crooner José James, and who has played with many artists such as Gregory Porter, Guru (Gang Starr / Jazzmatazz), Flying Lotus, The Cinematic Orchestra and Jameszoo. *Real Time* was released the same year as this concert, an album Spaven released with his band on which the great Jordan Rakei lends his voice to two tracks ("Spin" and "Faded"); they play a few preview tracks from the LP in this impressive performance. Spaven's playing is impeccable, the rhythms are broken, the groove is bone dry. His bandmates produce a lunar, almost cosmic sound over the top that highlights the dexterity of the drums and the perfectly executed transitions. **Anaïs Christidis Guillemard**.
