|a Making the Slam profiles the Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement as it prepares to compete in the international poetry competition, "Brave New Voices." PYPM finished second in the 2012 tournament and won the competition in 2011, so the expectations for the 2013 slam team are high. Six youth poets will travel to Chicago to compete with some of the best youth slam poets in the world. The film showcases, through performance poetry, the personal stories of Philadelphia high school students. Faith, love, family, sexuality and violence serve as inspiration for the artists' poems.
