Thoughts upon the African slave trade / by John Newton.

Originally a slave trader, John Newton experienced a religious conversion and became an Anglican clergyman and fervent abolitionist. His 1788 essay is notable for its frank descriptions of conditions on board slave ships during the Middle Passage.
