Louisiana, Supreme Court, Monroe : State v King, July 1857 [printed].

The defendant, a slave, was found guilty of stabbing Elias F Smith, a white man. He was convicted of intent to kill and sentenced to death by hanging. He appealed against the ruling. Judgment was reversed and the defendant ordered to be discharged.
